This is something you must be aware of...
Desperate time, comes desperate measure. Especially, nowadays when IRCC has been doing some major overhaul to the Temporary Resident programs.
I have been seeing a lot of Immigration Consultants advising Visitors seeking to get work permits after the annoucement to flagpole through one of the land borders. Be very extra careful when you do this. When the Public Policy allowing visitors to apply for a work permit from within was still active, there were stories of Visitors who went to the border and were denied entry by CBSA. The were found to be inadmissible due to Misrepresentation for lying about their purpose of entry as visitors. If you are found to be inadmissible due to Misrepresentation, you will be banned from applying to Canada for 5 years.
Think about it, if this can happen when the Public Policy was still active, CBSA has more reasons now to flag you for misrepresentation, NOW that the policy is cancelled.
More over, if there is an influx of Visitors heading to the US Border, the Department of Homeland Security will not be very happy. They are already dealing with the influx of asylum seekers from Canada to process. And, here comes yet again, the potential influx of Visitors hoping to convert their statuses to Workers. Not too long ago, Canada imposed a banned for people looking to flagpole to get their PGWP for that same reason. I wouldn't be surprised if Canada comes out with the same Policy to prevent visitors from flagpolling.
Please always keep in mind, that it is a priviledge to obtain Temporary and Permanent residency in Canada. It is not a right.
