This is one possible pathway for you to become Canadian PR

If you are a graduate of at least two year full time education, resulting in a degree or diploma from an Alberta Advanced Education publicly funded post-secondary institution,  and you will be eligible or you hold a Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), you could possible qualify for Graduate Entreprenuer Stream (GES).

Below are the other requirements for you to qualify for under this program:

  • Have a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which is valid at the time of your Expression of Interest (EOI) submission.
  • Have a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 7 for each English language skill or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) of 7 for each French language skill: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Official test results must be less than 2 years old at the time your  is submitted.
  • Must establish a new business or buy an existing business in Alberta with a minimum 34% ownership. The proposed business type must not be on the list of ineligible businesses.

Since you will need to submit an expression of interest (EOI), you will be competing with other candidates in the pool. Therefore, you want to get the highest score possible. Below are the factors that can add points to your EOI:

  • Work experience
  • Economic benefit
  • Age
  • Spouse factor (work experience and education in Alberta, langugage ability)
  • Alberta relative

As what the requirement states above, you only need to own 34% of the business. You can partner with Canadian Citizens and/or PRs in establihsing a new business or in buying an exisiting business.
